I know I should have shared this post way before with you guys here, but last few weeks have been crazy! In between house hunting to shifting to spending days in home stores, then traveling on and off, it’s been chaotic. Now that I have finally settled in (enough) to have some sanity back, getting back into my work zone and what better than to share my experience at The Ramgarh Bungalows!
The Ramgarh Bungalows, by Neemrana Hotels, are basically restored 19th century colonial English cottages in the Himalayas and an ideal getaway from a busy hectic city live.
Ramgarh is some 26 kms away from Nainital, I loved how it’s perfect to experience the best of nature to rejuvenate self. There was something very calming and serene about the whole place! Considering it was my solo trip and I was there for three days, not once I missed the city life or cribbed about having a poor network. I needed a break and this was just perfect. Getting up to the most beautiful sunrises and having some chai-pakora watching sunsets, I could very well go back! But let’s talk about the property first!
The six heritage bungalows in the Kumaon belt, are a mix of heritage vibes and a welcoming homely warmth. Keeping up with the tradition of non-hotel hotels, Neemrana Group made sure that the Ramgarh Bungalows do feel like home, be it the hospitality, the food or even aesthetics of the place. Adjacent to these bungalows you’d see apricots, plums, peaches, pears and apples plantations through the summer. I went for a morning trek and had the best time plucking and eating fresh fruits.
I was staying at the ‘Cliff House’ which is the only double storied bungalow with the beautiful balcony I had and oh that valley view! Further, the staff knowing that I am traveling solo, made sure I feel comfortable and home like. They would even check if I had my tea also or not haha! By the second day they could even figure my food preference and how many chapatis I normally have!
The food was great, very home like, simple and nothing too crazy or oily. I didn’t feel guilty of missing on my workouts and hogging there for three days. The homemade ice-creams and freshly squeezed juices are a must have.
Coming to the safety bit, it is super safe of course and I say that as a solo woman traveler. I had the whole bungalow to myself and not for a second I felt unsafe or creeped out especially when I am one of those people who’s scared of the dark. All I felt was super relaxed in this retreat!
Getting there is easy too! You can either take a direct cab from Delhi, which is a nine hour drive. Or, take a train. You can take the New Delhi Kathgodam Shatabdi Express till Nainital and then a cab from there. The train takes around 6 hours to get to Nainital and then it’s a two hour drive (unless there’s crazy traffic) up to Ramgarh Bungalows. I think it’s totally do-able for an extended weekend at least. Take the break you need with your friends or family or partner or even just alone!
Further, I also got some fresh fruits and jams back besides just beautiful memories as souvenirs. Natural Neemrana jams are made here with no preservatives to make sure they are healthy. If you ever go there, don’t forget to grab some for yourself!

I am glad that Neemrana Hotels invited me to The Ramgarh Bungalows for a stay experience and I personally love the group for their concept of non-hotel hotels! The Ramgarh Bungalows is an ideal escape from summer heat or city life and during winters, I wish to be back to experience beautiful snowfall and with Shitiz this time! It’ll be pretty romantic right! 🙂
Won’t do the justice, but here are some pictures from my stay at The Ramgarh Bungalows:
