A very Happy New Year to you guys and this being the first post of the year (it’s never too late is it?) I must wish you a prosperous and fulfilling year ahead. For New Year’s Eve, Shitiz was in town. Well we are currently dealing with distance marriage, I am in Delhi while he’s back in Hyderabad. We were supposed to move out of the country back in November but he still has some work to get done with and hence things got little complicated with our moving situation. So it’s been three months now and we try to see each other as much as possible. Hopefully, this will get sorted soon 🙂
Nonetheless, coming back to New Year’s Eve, Shitiz booked a mini staycation at Leela Delhi. We like Leela group as a preferred choice because besides just being a fan of their hospitality and properties, we have a membership and we get some really cool deals on it. So we had a nice romantic dinner with live jazz and some couple’s time, much needed! Everything was going great till there were news of the Bangalore incident all over, kind of messed up my mood. Honestly, we live in a country where such news don’t surprise me but of course I was shocked and disgusted at the same time. Makes me wonder if things are ever going to change, it gets as regressive as it can get and the authorities do nothing much. A lot has been said on this matter but not much has been done. It’s a web of causation and there have to be measures taken from multiple aspects be it in terms of education, law and order, positive representation of women in Bollywood or even just the general mentality of people. At an individual level, till everyone feels accountable, men or women, things will not change. May this new year’s resolution be to make an effort towards building a progressive, secure and respectful environment for everyone to live in.
Coming to today’s look, I shot this couple of months back and it also happens to be my last shoot in Hyderabad but couldn’t share it till now, so here it is:
I like to experiment with what I wear. When people ask me to define my personal style I am often short of words as I keep experimenting. This look is about one of those days when I wanted to keep things simple yet have a statement piece as the focal point. I do that a lot. Pick one statement piece and build a look around it.
For this look, the camel wool blouse/top with floral applique details and lace inserts is the protagonist. The oversized boning sleeves add the right amount of drama to it, something very ‘Archana Rao Label’. Needless to say, she’s one of my favourite designers in India and I often find myself swooning over her pieces.
I teamed the blouse with my Zara culottes and Forever New booties. To avoid taking any attention off the blouse, I have kept my makeup minimal and accessories zero. I am wearing Bobbi Brown Salmon on my lips.
I know I practically wrote about a lot of things in this post, and I guess it’s okay at times to be able to do that especially when I know you guys love me enough to be okay with my overcrowded state of mind at times. Hope you guys liked the look!
