There’s nothing better than a weekend well spent with family and a family weekend getaway is a cherry on the cake. I love how Delhi has so many options for weekend getaways so even if you plan something at the last moment, all you’d need is a good family car! But what do you exactly mean by a family car? For me it has be spacious to fit in as many family members as possible, fuel efficient for long road trips and of course safe with a good control on the road. I had already heard a lot about the Renault Lodgy. The big family MPV! So when I was asked to take its newer avatar LODGY WORLD EDITION for a road trip with my family, I was like why not?!
I will share my experience with Renault Lodgy World Edition nd its features but before I get to that, I’ll quickly share what we did over the weekend.
For weekend getaway, we initially decided to go to Neemrana but there were no rooms available. So on googling for more options we finally narrowed down to The Tree House Resort in Jaipur, Rajasthan. It was six of us going, me my mom, both sisters, brother-in-law and mausi! Shitiz couldn’t make it from Hyderabad and my brother ended up with fever so he and my father had to stay back.
We started off on Saturday morning, around 7 a.m. from Gurgaon and by 11 a.m. we were hungry so decided to stop by someplace for quick breakfast.
After having some yummy stuffed paranthas we were back on the road and by lunch time we had reached our destination.
Since we had booked an all meals inclusive package, we had our lunch at the resort itself. We had some good food at Machaan which had a nice buffet spread for lunch including some Rajasthani delicacies.
After lunch all the women vetoed for shopping trip to Jaipur! I mean if you are in Jaipur how can you not go shop and since the car was smooth enough on the road with comfortable seating we weren’t tired of the travel.
We drove to Bapu Bazar which was around an hour away from the resort. The car was easy to maneuver even in the thin and congested lanes of Jaipur especially with the on-going metro construction. Another thing we noticed was that the car did grab quite some eyeballs on the road. Like people were looking at the car and trying to figure out what model is it. At one instance some gentleman rolled down his window at a red light to even ask which car is it, no kidding!
We shopped for some two hours and were back at the resort for dinner at Machaan itself. Post dinner we kids decided to have some beer and chill.
Next morning, the weather was pretty pleasant so I decided to take out the car and get a feel of it by myself. So while everyone was sleeping, me and my sister were out in the car driving around and chatting.
We headed straight for breakfast where the rest of our family joined us. Once we were done with our meal we packed our stuff and checked out from the resort.
By the time we reached Gurgaon it was lunch time and we stopped by at 21 Gun Salute, a lavish retro dining spot serving Indian cuisine with a royal touch. I was totally impressed with the décor and aesthetic details and the food was brilliant.
