My Mia #Pinkathon Experience

As you guys know I recently ran Mia 5k in the #Pinkathon, I couldn’t help but share the details of it all with you guys here as this was my first run ever.

About Pinkathon, the Pinkathon is more than just a Marathon but a step to spread awareness about women’s health. It encourages women to empower themselves by taking control of their own health and understand their value in their respective families and the society. A better mental and physical health makes anyone feel empowered!

As a public health student, I fully support the ideology behind the Pinkathon and hence when I got the opportunity to be a part of it by Mia by Tanishq and PopXo, I was totally up for it!

I registered for the Mia 5k run, and since I have recently picked up running I thought I should start off with 5k besides Mia being a brand I can personally relate to being another reason, who sponsored the 5k run.

On a day to day basis or for work, I prefer sleek, sophisticated, modern looking jewelry and Mia by Tanishq offers just that. So I was more than happy to collect my 5k Pinkathon run kit from the nearest Mia store and check out their latest collection. I did like a few pieces and intend to return to the store soon with Shitiz to buy something for myself!

Preparation:

When it comes to preparing for a marathon, it’s all about consistency and so you have to be regular such that your stamina doesn’t betray you on the D-day. Hence despite of my hectic schedule full of personal and professional engagements, I would take out an hour in a day to prepare. Being married, and now having two pups, Zac and Chloe to take care of, I have a lot of work to do and take care of at home front. Then there’s the blog work, such as shoots, business meetings, calls, emails and more. But I guess I have always been a multi-tasker, I in fact enjoy multi-tasking and staying busy which kind of keeps me going! So I made a pseudo time table in my head, with a fixed hour in the day devoted to everything I do, to take out time to prep myself up for the marathon, without affecting my other commitments.

Now, coming back to Mia 5k Pinkathon, it was indeed a great experience. To be honest, since it was happening on Sunday morning and Saturday night I was at a music festival, partying and drinking till 2 a.m., I wasn’t as spirited as I was when I had registered. But when I reached the venue, it kind of blew me, the energy just got me. Thousands of women, from the age of 7 to 70, all together for Pinkathon. I haven’t seen such spirit ever before especially at that hour of the day, 5.30 a.m!

Milind Soman <3, was hosting the event and talked about running and fitness. He also flagged off all the runs. Moreover, there were Zumba sessions too to warm us all up. Everyone was all smiles and gung-ho!

The Mia 5k pinkathon started off around 6.30 a.m. and I was able to get done with it by 7.15 a.m. I know not that quick but all I can say is I was at Sensation till 2 a.m. so you can imagine. But I did feel accomplished. Running on the track with all these women, united by the idea of empowerment, the feeling was beyond to put in words here. The medal ‘I am a finisher’ felt so good!

This definitely made me want to be a part of more such runs and I am looking forward to be a part of marathon in future. I’d surely recommend all my women readers to be a part of marathon whenever they can! Be it 3K, 5K, 10K or even 21K, the number doesn’t matter, however you are comfortable with, but just go for it!

I had a fun time at the Pinkathon thanks to Mia by Tanishq and Popxo! Hope you guys are motivated to take part too sometime!

    I had participated and ran for Bangalore Pinkathon three times,.. Three years I was part of it and feel great about it when I see those 3 t-shirts. 3 bibs and medals. But this year due to my knee injury I couldn’t be part of it,.. feeling so sad about it… I love running,.. Nice pictures..
