Festive Makeup – Details

By  |  6 Comments

Hey guys! So ever since I posted couple of selfies from an upcoming wedding blogpost series as sneak-peek, I have been getting a lot of queries on the details of makeup, the breakdown and products used. I also got a few tutorials requests, but honestly I am still not that confident about making videos but hey! never say never! I will surely try to work a way out on tutorials but meanwhile here’s the makeup break-down!

The base and foundation are the same as I had to shoot all the three looks back to back. So I was just changing my blush, lipstick etc for each.

Here’s what I used for base and foundation in common (plus same liner and mascara), in the order of application:

  1. Bodyshop Tea Tree Moisturizer
  2. MAC Studio Fix Primer
  3. Chanel Mat Lumiere Foundation
  4. Chanel Mat Lumiere Compact
  5. Maybelline Gel Liner
  6. L’oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

For this look, I did a mix of strobing and contouring. For contouring, I used MAC Bronzing Powder and MAC Riri Blush (was a limited edition). Now if you are strobing, you keep all other things matte/non-shimmery on your face, except eyes yeah! For strobing, I used MAC Improper Copper Frost blush and Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Nectar shade. A bit of NARS Torrid blush too. For eye-shadows, I have this customized eye shadow palette of 4 shades from MAC. So I used some golden and copper eye shadow from that. MAC Viva Glam 1 on lips, and for brows, MAC brow pencil in Stud and L’oreal Brow Genius Kit in Medium to Dark shade.

The base and foundation is the same as above and so is my liner, mascara, and brow makeup. Eye shadows, same palette, just that it was maroon and golden colours in this look. A bit of MAC bronzer for contouring. No strobing but just a bit of highlighting with MAC Improper Copper Frost Blush and for blush I used Maybelline Dream Touch Blush 06. On my lips I have a mix of MAC Riri Woo Lipstick and MAC Riri Woo Gloss.

Everything same as look 1 except for the blush, lipstick and eyeshadow! Eyeshadow is Sephora Dusk Till Dawn No 4. Blush is Sephora I’m Shocked No 9 and lipstick is L’oreal Moist Matte Lip Color in Raspberry Syrup.

Quick tips while switching outfits and looks, to avoid doing the whole thing all over again:

  1. Use face tissue paper to gently rub things off like blush, just blot it out gently! If you are out of face tissues, toilet papers (yes!) do a good job too thanks to the paper quality and thickness.
  2. Use ear buds to wipe your eyeshadow and liner off without ruining your mascara. If you don’t want to re-do the liner too, I suggest using a kohl pencil instead. Such that after you wipe off the eyeshadow and apply another one, you can just re-touch/ re-apply the kohl over what’s already there.
  3. For lipstick, ear buds and tissue paper again.
  4. Use a cleansing milk or makeup remover with the ear buds if needed to get the makeup off smoothly.

Do let me know if this post helped and I’d do more such posts, well at least till I get into video-making zone!

Much Love,

P
