The Vacation Look-book

By  |  10 Comments

As you guys know that I just got back from Lakme Fashion Week, and needless to say it was super hectic, I am in dire need of a vacation!

While the whole vacation planning may take a little time, I couldn’t help myself to get in the vacation mode for you guys and do a vacation look book. I was shopping at Flipkart the other day (they have a crazy sale on, guilty, yes!) and I picked a few things dreaming of a vacation in my mind. I may actually plan one next month, so here’s to hoping Shitiz has relatively less work at office (phew, #CorporateLifeAndAllThatJazz you know).

Anyway, coming back to the topic, when it comes to packing for a holiday, we want to pack a lot of things, because, hello! vacation pictures last longer than anything and those #VacayOotds on Instagram. We can’t also ignore the fact that you also end up shopping wherever you go to and extra baggage is always a concern! So how do we pack smart?

Here are the 5 vacation looks I shopped from Flipkart that I am going to share and how I have planned these in a way that I can literally fit these in even in a small suitcase!

Look 1 – Tour Day

I am wearing a shirt dress by Masaba for Stylista here and teamed it with my Stan Smiths, both from Flipkart. Shirt dresses are easy to roam around in and the sneakers keep you comfortable to walk long distances. Besides that, you can even use shirt dresses as capes later during your travel over a tank & pair of denims, or even a dress. Also, keep it bright, vacation pictures look better in bright colours.

Look 2 – The Exploring Cafes & Shopping Day

This look is perfect for the day you just want to explore the local cafes or maybe some shops around. Since you won’t be walking too much, wedges work perfect. The United Colors of Benetton dress teamed with the Quirkbox clutch, are both available at Flipkart and work perfectly for the purpose.

Look 3 – Another Day Exploring The City & Its Nightlife

So while you explore the city in the day, check out museums, art galleries or palaces, depending on the city you are in, you do keep one night to explore the nightlife too! So here in this look I have used the same Calvin Klein dress from Flipkart for a day tour, and even for the clubbing at night. With the basic switch of accessories and shoes, you can work the same dress for two different purposes. Do keep a pair of kickass heels along, besides the wedges and sneakers (which you can wear at the airport too), and so you don’t need to carry more than 2-3 pair of shoes if you pack smartly.

Look 4 – Beach/Pool Day

Of course you’ll dedicate one day just to chill at the beach or by the pool. Besides the bikini, what you also need is a cover up. However, this look below is more like a ‘chilling at the beach look’. The Vero Moda Shorts and Monica Dogra for Stylista Cape, are both from Flipkart.

Look 5 – Brunch Day

Usually 5th day is the last day and you tend to check out after you have had your brunch or lunch. So this look is for the same purpose.

Now how can you be on a holiday and not wear a maxi dress even once, so here I am wearing a Maxi Dress by Rinku Dalamal for Stylista. I am wearing my wedges here, but you can surely wear flats or anything that works for you!

Besides the ideas above, always carry a pair of jeans (tee to go with it too of course), a scarf and a sweat shirt extra, never know when it comes handy! You’ll get a lot of good deals on the same on Flipkart!

Now other few tips while packing for a holiday:

  • Do not carry insane amount of accessories. Plus you don’t go touring with all the chunky pieces possible on you, carry few dainty light pieces. Maybe one or two statement ones only for a club night or a date night.
  • Keep a check on how much make up you’re carrying. Travel make-up kits are the best, invest in good kits, that really keep things easy when you have to travel.
  • About toiletries, the basic you’ll obviously get at the property you’ll be staying at so just carry the ones you won’t get, like a specific facewash or scrub you use, that too in smaller bottles/tubes.
  • Carry light weight fabrics for outfits (unless going to a chilly place), they occupy lesser space in suitcase.
  • Pack everything in separate pouches, that keeps your stuff well organized and make use of the space in the suitcase properly.

Hope you guys liked the post and do check out the sale going on Flipkart right now!

Much Love,
