A lot of you keep asking me about the products that I use on my face like makeup base, foundation, concealers and more. So in this post I’ll be sharing all the products I use for makeup base, cover up and more for various occasions. I’ll be sharing the primer, foundation, concealer and compact powder that I use. But before I get started with that, a little about my skin type. I have a hormonal skin, like literally! It’s oily, sensitive and prone to breakouts, also because of the big oil wells for pores that I have, no kidding! So whatever products I use, I make sure are non-comedogenic and work well with my sensitive skin.
So here goes the list of my makeup base and more!
On regular days, I don’t wear makeup. A BB creams solves the purpose when I have to go out to run errands or even to a mall. I used to wear my BB cream to even work everyday. I use Body Shop’s Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream usually. It’s tinted, light and non-sticky.
Moisturizer & Primer
Before applying any makeup, I usually use some moisturizer. It’s a must, irrespective of any skin type, moisturizers keep the skin well hydrated. You can use a sunscreen too but since the products I use have some SPF protection, I don’t use any considering my sun exposure is minimal.
These days I’m using Body Shop’s Tea Tree Pore Minimizer for moisturizer. It’s pretty light, non-sticky and moistens my oily skin just right.
For primer, I only and only use MAC’s Prep + Prime which comes with a SPF protection of 50! Told ya, I don’t need a sunscreen. This primer is non-greasy if you use it in small amount, like a drop of it is enough and spreads well across the face without any greasy feel to it. Gets absorbed in the skin easily. It’s a perfect makeup base!
I usually have 3-4 foundations at any point of time on my dressing table because I use different foundation for different purposes. If I have to attend a wedding or a festive occasion I have a different foundation on, for a brunch date again it’s different, then what I use for shoots, that’s a different one. It completely depends on the kind of coverage I want or if there are any breakouts or blemishes that I need to cover up.
Right now I am using three foundations:
a) Sephora Brightening & Hydrating Foundation- Not heavy on the pocket, probably around a grand, it’s good for daily purpose or casual occasion, like catching up with friends, going for a date around lunch time, shopping or even to work at times. Good to go for 3-4 hours with decent coverage. You’d need to touch it up with compact for it to last longer.
b) MAC Studio Fix Foundation- Not that cheap, but good enough and totally worth the price. Studio Fix is what I am usually wearing during shoots be it under the sun or a gloomy humid day, doesn’t crack up that easy but a re-touch of compact keeps it going longer. The coverage it really good and perfect for oily skin! Usually this is the one I’m wearing in my selfies on Instagram too, I think I use this one the most (the condition of the bottle is self-explanatory).
c) Chanel Mat Lumiere: Comparatively heavier on the pocket but worth every penny. The coverage is really good, it’s like my special occasions foundation where I want my makeup to look flawless and this one makes sure it does! It is matte, long lasting and very light to feel on the face.
I use MAC’s select cover up concealer and it’s brilliant. Quite an underrated product I must say, but I love it. It hides all my spots and everything pretty well and the best part is, you can even use it as a foundation all over your face in case you are running out of your foundation or are in hurry. Contrary to it’s small packaging, it actually lasts longer than you’d think it would, as only a small drop of it does the job!
I have two compact powders, one strictly for daily purpose and one for going out or special occasions.
a) MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus- It’s perfect for daily purpose as it’s also like a powder foundation with medium to full coverage.
b) Chanel Mat Lumiere Compact- This one’s for going out or special occasion purposes, goes perfectly well with my Chanel foundation. Matte, velvety texture and good coverage, re-touch makes sure that my make up doesn’t crack up and lasts longer. It even comes in this cute velvet pouch which makes it carrying-in-bag friendly.
With so much going on the face, anyone would surely need a good makeup remover. I use Body Shop’s Vitamin E Cream Cleanser to take my makeup off followed by Body Shop’s Vitamin E Facewash. These two clear out even the tiniest bit of makeup from my face!
