Coorg Diaries: Part 1

By  |  6 Comments

I have been sick busy with work off late to the point that it was driving me mad and beginning to take a toll of me, so one fine day I kind of crashed.

Next day, I was at work and it just hit me, I called Shitiz, “Get me out of here, now!”

Shitiz asked me where to, and I was like, I don’t care, I just need a break, from everything. It was 3 p.m. then. On googling for viable options, Coorg, seemed like a feasible idea.Β

Now, when you say Coorg, the obvious options that pop-up are Taj Vivanta & Orange County. However, the idea was to leave the same day, as expected, no rooms were available at both the properties. So while Shitiz was busy with his meetings (it was 4 p.m. by then) I was googling for other resorts/options and flight tickets. That’s when I came across Amanvana Spa Resort.

They had rooms available just around the same time we were planning to stay, and were fully booked for rest of days, some luck! I immediately mailed the link of Amanvana’s booking page and flight options to Shitiz. He got free from his meeting and by 5.30 p.m. everything was booked.

We booked a 3N 4D all meals and taxes inclusive Bungalow package, which seemed good to go. Other inclusions were, all indoor activities were complimentary (like River & Forest Trek, Nature Walk, Yoga, Amphitheater and more) and discounts for spa. To be honest, more than anything, I was quite curious about the resort’s tagline ‘A rabbit hole for the soul’.

We had our flight to Bangalore in exact 12 hours. For Coorg, we booked a cab from Bangalore Airport to Coorg, through a friend of mine who had the taxi agent’s number in his contact list.

So next day, early morning, we had our flight and we reached Bangalore around 7.30 a.m. Our cab guy arrived soon. About the cab guy, I was highly disappointed, the fellow actually took a long route (our phones got switched off so we couldn’t keep a track of it via Google Maps) at a real slow speed. Despite of it being a pre-paid cab (we booked the cab in advance for going to Coorg and then, for coming back to Bangalore later, which costed us around 12 grands. Not sure if it’ll cost you less or more if you have the cab guy staying back at Coorg), it seemed like he was trying to make some extra buck. We reached sometime around 2 p.m. and Shitiz had to call the agency manager and get this cab guy sorted. We were way too hungry, sleepy and tired by then.

Day 1 & Day 2

We were welcomed by a welcome drink and then checked-in to our Bungalow. The bungalow basically had a patio, a small pond with lotus, fishes and frogs, a living room, bedroom, little closet area and a sky-lit bathroom! Yepp, sky-lit bathroom with a big bath tub πŸ™‚

First thing we did after checking in was, rush to the restaurant to have lunch. But before I go further, here are few pictures (the pictures are a mix of phone camera and our dslr clicks AND this is going to be a pretty long post!):

The sky-lit bathroom, pure delight, especially during rain!!

Oh look, it’s me!

Notice the cute book-shelf next to the bath tub?!

Headed straight for the lunch!

Decided to sit by the pool

After we got done with the lunch we decided to hit the pool and just chill with some beer in hand πŸ˜€

Pool selfie

One with the mister! Clearly he’s not too fond of being clicked πŸ˜›

That’s the spa right behind the pool, the Jacuzzi was also close by.

Now time for some bubble bath and a gooooood nap!

After the much needed sleep, we thought of taking a stroll and explore the resort a bit.

It got dark pretty quick

Beautiful lights

It got dark pretty quick so we headed straight for dinner. Since we were pretty much tired from all that traveling, we wanted to hit the bed soon and all those cosmopolitans I had, helped πŸ˜€

Next morning is when we actually got to explore the resort. We got up pretty early in the morning and walked around, was romantic too in its own way, will all lush green around.

Wish I could get up to these options every morning!

Shitiz was trying to click some candid pics

Down the river-side again, favourite spot by now!

Caught bare-faced πŸ˜›

There was a Barbecue set up just next to thisΒ

Happy mode!

Chillin’ like a villian

Sigh, take me back already!

Oh hello, kindly excuse the morning attire πŸ˜›

Another hammock!

After exploring the resort, we had our breakfast followed by some Jacuzzi time. Basically we were just chilling throughout the trip and did I mention my phone was completely off all throughout the trip, yes! It was a good break indeed.

Then we got ready for lunch and more stroll πŸ˜€

Perfect evening!

Time to head back to our nest πŸ™‚

After walking around so much, all I needed was a gooooood bubble bath. Plus it rained, so I picked up my book, ordered some beer & pakoras in the room and chilled in my bath-tub with rain pouring down the glass roof for sight, phew I so want to just go back !

Dinner (and LIIT :P) time!

This is it for now, will be sharing more in Part 2 post coming up next soon, including how I liked the food, what we did on day 3& 4, and some more pictures πŸ˜€

Hope you guys enjoyed this post on my recent Coorg getaway.

Much Love,
