Kanak Restaurant at Trident, Hyderabad has organized a Food Festival “Rivaayat”

RIVAAYAT – Revisiting the traditional Indian cuisines.

Discovering forgotten delicacies from the kitchens and traditions of our old cities.

A celebration of food that brings back the nostalgia of flavours from of Awadh, Amritsar, Hyderabad and New Delhi – prepared by the Master Chefs Manik Magotra, Sidharth Sharma and Sandeep Bhattacharya who have mastered this art and honed their skills with the khaansamas over several months and curated a royal experience for their patrons at Trident.

I was more than happy to the recieve the invite as ‘Kanak’ at Trident Hyderabad has been awarded the best Fine Dine Restaurant for North Indian Cuisine by The Times Group, Times Food & Nightlife Awards 2015. And of course why not, the food is actually good. Being a North Indian myself, I am a big time fan of North Indian food and Kanak is always a delight to eat at.

Let me warn you the menu and pictures may tempt you quite a bit, but no worries these special recipes are available in Hyderabad from 22nd March to 05th April’15.

So here’s the specially curated Menu:

Macchi Amritsari

Purani Dilli Fried Chicken Kebab

Galavat Kebab

Rampuri Paneer Tikka

Soya ke Tootak

Main courses

Maratban ka Meat

Butter Chicken

Purani Dilli ki Nihari

Kadhai Paneer

Bharwan Amchori Bhindi aur Payaz

Pindi Chole

All main courses accompanied with Lakhnawi dal, Lukhnawi murgh biryani, or punjabi matar pulao with a choice of Indian bread

Dry fruit Dudhi Halwa

Gulab Phirni

I really loved the food, even tasted non-vegetarian food items (trying to learn to eat some non-vegetarian, yes I am a veggie.). I particularly loved the Paneer Tikka, Shitiz loved the Paneer Tikka too and Galavat Kebabs from the starters menu. Bharma Bhindi & Pindi Chhole for main course were my favourites, while Shitiz fell in love with the butter chicken, even comparing it to Gulati’s butter chicken (Pandara Road, Delhi) which is supposed to be ‘The Butter Chicken’ in Delhi ! I actually took three servings of Pindi Chhole, such authentic flavour *guilty of over-doing it but totally worth it* !

For pudding, loved both, the Phirni and Dhudhi Halwa !

Here are some pictures (including some that I clicked from my phone 🙂 ):

For cocktail, started with Deewan-e-khaas, a very spicy one rather ! And that’s the menu as paper rolled and tied with ribbon next to my glass.

There was not one person on the table who wasn’t raving about the paneer tikka, best part was not just the perfectly soft paneer but also the mint chutney stuffing in between.

Rampuri Paneer

Galavet Kebabs !

Main course arrives 🙂

Best - Dahi wala

Butter Chicken; tasted it myself, everything was just perfect. I did end up stealing few extra bites from Shitiz’s plate 🙂

Favourite-st ! Pindi Chhole

Puraani Dilli Ki Nihari; from what I heard from the food bloggers sitting around me, it had that particular ‘Chandni Chowk wali baat’.

Purani Dilli Ki

Martabaan ka Meat

Martbaan ka meat -

Bharwan Amchori Bhindi with Pyaaz

Bharwan Amchori Bhindi Aur

Later I switched to a Bailey’s based cocktail, Deewan-e-Khaas was tad too spicy for me 🙂

Dry Fruit Dudhi

Phirni served with Dhudi Halwa !

Okay now even I am tempted to pay another visit myself before the Food Festival gets over ! I think you guys should try it out too 🙂

Much Love,
